STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

A structured process that develops the physical qualities your sport actually requires: strength, speed, power, coordination, movement efficiency and conditioning.

The starting point

TRAIN THE ATHLETE, NOT ONLY THE EXERCISE

Effective strength and conditioning begins with understanding the athlete. I assess training history, current capacity, movement quality, previous injuries and the specific demands of the sport. Tests are selected because they help make decisions—not simply because they belong to a standard checklist.

The programme must also reflect the stage of the season. Preparation before competition, maintaining performance during the season and returning after a break require different priorities and training loads.

The training process

FOUR COMPLEMENTARY ELEMENTS

01 / ADAPT

Adaptation

Prepare the nervous system and musculoskeletal system for progressively greater demands.

02 / BUILD

Muscle development

Increase the muscular capacity needed to tolerate training and support future strength gains.

03 / STRENGTH

Maximal force

Develop the ability to produce force efficiently while maintaining sound technique.

04 / POWER

Explosive performance

Learn to express strength rapidly in actions that matter for sport.

Sport-specific needs

PHYSICAL QUALITIES THAT TRANSFER

Team and individual sports repeatedly demand fast reactions, acceleration, deceleration, changes of direction and dynamic force production. Gym work supports these actions, but it must be combined with appropriate running, jumping, throwing and sport-specific practice.

  • Acceleration, speed and efficient changes of direction
  • Strength and power for contact, jumping and rapid actions
  • Coordination and movement control under fatigue
  • Conditioning matched to the work-to-rest demands of the sport
  • Training-load management that supports regular practice and competition
Individual planning

NO UNIVERSAL TEMPLATE

The phases above are useful tools, but they are not always rigid or completely separate. Depending on the athlete, hypertrophy, strength, power and conditioning can overlap within one training period. Exercise choice, volume and intensity should change according to the goal and the athlete’s response.

I provide strength and conditioning for football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, fencing and other sports, always adapting the programme to the person and their discipline.
